I built this because I lived it
We make aluminium bicycles , a small real manufacturing operation, not a hobby. Two seasons ago the system I ran everything broke in the middle of a production run. Overnight I couldn't trust how many frames I could build, what each one cost, or whether I could fulfil the orders already in.
The tools out there came in two flavours: a spreadsheet that falls apart the moment things get serious, or an ERP built and priced for a company ten times my size. Nothing sat in the middle. So I made the thing my team needed , and then made it good enough to give to other makers.
